Zechariah 4:6-7 (NLT)
6  Then he said to me, “This is what the LORD says to Zerubbabel: It is not by force nor by strength, but by my Spirit, says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies.
7  Nothing, not even a mighty mountain, will stand in Zerubbabel’s way; it will become a level plain before him! And when Zerubbabel sets the final stone of the Temple in place, the people will shout: ‘May God bless it! May God bless it!’”

Talk About It

For every dream that is realized there is a mountain that must be climbed.  Too many times people see the mountain and look for another way or give up on the dream all together.  But for a dream to become reality, you have to have faith, faith that can move mountains.  And that’s what faith does.

If it was easy, you wouldn’t need faith, but dreams are hard and faith is the most important ingredient.   It is faith that will move mountains.

Sometimes we wonder where the mountains come from.  The most obvious is the enemy.  Satan will try to keep your dreams from coming true.  He will place obstacles in your path that will stop you or get you sidetracked.  When that happens know that faith will remove the mountain.  Greater is he that is in you than he that is in this world.  When you speak to that mountain you unleash the power of God to go to work on your behalf.

Don’t let mountains discourage you or cause you to give up on your dreams.  The mountain just means that God is getting ready to do something awesome.

Do the Word

What mountains can you identify in your life?

How do those mountains make you feel?

What are you doing to overcome those mountains?

If the mountains were gone what dreams would be realized?

Mark 11:12-14 (NLT)
12  The next morning as they were leaving Bethany, Jesus was hungry.
13  He noticed a fig tree in full leaf a little way off, so he went over to see if he could find any figs. But there were only leaves because it was too early in the season for fruit.
14  Then Jesus said to the tree, “May no one ever eat your fruit again!” And the disciples heard him say it.

In Sunday’s message, Pastor Tom said that in every life there are mountains to move and temples to build.  Mountains of opposition and temples of unrealized dreams. That statement is sad but true.  Too many times the mountains mean unrealized dreams, we settle for less than what God has in store for us.  His plan is greater.  He desires that your every dream become a reality.

John 10:10 tells us that even though the enemy comes to steal, kill and destroy; Jesus came that we might have an abundant life.

Don’t give up on your dreams.  Every dream will face opposition, but when you overcome the opposition, when you climb that mountain, the dream is that much sweeter.

Do the Word

What are your dreams?

What is standing in your way?

What have you spoken to your mountain?

How would your life be different if your dreams became reality?

Mark 11:20-25 (NLT)
20  The next morning as they passed by the fig tree he had cursed, the disciples noticed it had withered from the roots up.
21  Peter remembered what Jesus had said to the tree on the previous day and exclaimed, “Look, Rabbi! The fig tree you cursed has withered and died!”
22  Then Jesus said to the disciples, “Have faith in God.
23  I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart.
24  I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours.
25  But when you are praying, first forgive anyone you are holding a grudge against, so that your Father in heaven will forgive your sins, too.”

Talk About It

What are you looking at?  I remember hearing my drivers ed instructor ask us that question over and over again.  He knew that what we were looking at determined where we would drive.

In life, what are you looking at?  It’s easy to lose sight of our dreams when circumstances get in the way.  But we cannot let circumstances determine our future.

Circumstances will come every day to try to get you off track.  You must know your dreams and know your path to get there.  When you know your path, you can demand the obstacles that get in your way to go into the sea.

Now, when Jesus said these words he wasn’t talking about changing geography, he was talking about changing your trajectory!  Nothing can stop a God given dream except you!  God knows it and so does Satan.  Don’t let the mountains get you off track.  God’s power and God’s plan is greater than any mountain.

Do the Word

Do you really believe that God has a plan for your life?    Why or why not?

How have you seen God at work in that plan in your life up to now?

Has there been a time when circumstances got you off track?       How so?

What did you do to get back on track?

What circumstances do you need to speak to today?

Do it right now!

2 Corinthians 4:17-18 (NLT)
17  For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever!
18  So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.

Talk About It

In life, it’s vital that we see things from God’s perspective.  Circumstances are not meant to derail our dreams but to cause our faith to grow to achieve the dream.  The real question is not how big your circumstances are but how big is your God?

The key to seeing things God’s way is to see God!  In every circumstance you need to keep your eyes focused on God. Know that He is your healer, your provider, your encourager, your sustainer. He is the way maker.

When you keep your eyes on God, you will also know His direction and plans.  He will guide you through, around and over every circumstance.  So how do we keep our eyes on God?

It starts by having a daily quiet time every day.  Your quiet time will have three elements.  First of all, stay in the Word of God every day!  Read it until not only are you in the word but the word gets into you!  Secondly, your quiet time will include prayer.  This includes talking and listening to God.  And lastly, spend time in praise and worship.

When you do this every day you begin to see things God’s way.

Do the Word

What time is your quiet time every day?

What are you reading in the Bible?

What has God spoke to you during your quiet time?

Hebrews 11:3 (NLT)
3  By faith we understand that the entire universe was formed at God’s command, that what we now see did not come from anything that can be seen.

Mark 11:23 (NLT)
23  I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart.

Talk About It

Faith goes beyond just hoping so, it’s revealed in the way we speak.  Your words matter.  They have power.

Jesus said out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.  Faith cannot just be in your heart you need to speak words of faith.  Speak to that mountain and it will be removed.  Jesus spoke to demons and they fled.  He spoke to illness and it left.

In spite of your circumstances you need to speak words of faith.   When you speak words of faith, Satan hears you, you hear you and God hears you.

Your words will bring fear into the heart of Satan.  Now he knows what you believe God will do.  Warfare takes place and he knows he is on the losing side.

When you hear you, faith grows.  Words of faith will inspire actions of faith in your life.  Your faith grows as you remind yourself and hear the promises of God.

Your words of faith unleash the actions of God.  You have not because you ask not.

It’s time to speak the promises of God over you, your family, your church and your dreams.

Do the Word

What dreams do you have?

What promises of faith do you need to speak over them?

When you speak words of faith, how do you feel?

What happens to your faith?
